PDF settings for file submission.
Our recommendations for PDF file settings are illustrated below in the Acrobat Distiller settings for our print production.
PDF is a container format. The graphic Components of a print-ready PDF file consist of the following:
Vector (path) objects - can be stroked or filled. Text (font) objects - can also be stroked or filled. Raster (image) objects - rectangular array of sample values (pixels).
These can be compressed and/or tagged with ICC profiles, but other familiar graphic file types do not exist within a PDF file.
You won't find an EPS or TIFF file in a PDF, just vector or raster objects.
What does this all technical jargon mean to you? Our prepress technicians won't be able to alter your files once you submit them for printing. Altering your PDF file is close to impossible. Usually if you are not satisfied with your proof we request a new file. If your PDF doesn't clear our preflight - you will have to correct and resubmit the file.
Before you proceed with distilling your project now is the time to insure all links are CMYK if this is a process project.
Or the correct PANTONE number (without any process color links) if this is a SPOT color project.
The extra effort you take saves us time and you additional charges.
